KENZO SS 2021

KENZO SS 2021 campaign

by

Felipe Oliveira Baptista

For his second campaign for KENZO, Felipe Oliveira Baptista carried on the concept of distance photography – first developed for his Fall-Winter 2020 campaign with photographer Glen Luchford and stylist Jane How.

      These are vintage photographs from Glen Luchford’s archives – recreated with the models shot under a similar light than the vintage ones, this time wearing the KENZO Spring-Summer 2021 Collection: Bee a Tiger.

      The images take viewers on a photographic trip around the world – from Los Angeles, to Havana, to New York City and Marrakesh – evoking the spirit of ‘Going Places’, during a time when physical travel seems to be a distant reality.

      The choice of pictures and styling was selected in order to express Felipe Oliveira Baptista’s vision for KENZO: A youthful nomadic spirit, freedom, diversity, optimism, and a certain idea of KENZO timeless style.

CHANEL X Kristen Stewart

Backstage mood

A CHANEL ambassador since 2015, Kristen Stewart is the face of the House’s Spring-Summer 2020 Ready-to-Wear campaign, photographed by Jean-Baptiste Mondino.

In an exclusive interview, the actress expresses her admiration for Virginie Viard, the Artistic Director of CHANEL’s Fashion collections: “There is an originality and a sort of unique thing that she brings to a room she walks into and I feel like her clothes do the same thing. They feel like a gasping breath. There is a sort of radicality going into it, there is something kind of mad about them, but fun and also grounded in the history of Chanel. I am very proud of her and really humbled to wear them.”

In this video, Kristen Stewart also talks about the CHANEL Spring-Summer 2020 Ready-to-Wear collection, which she embodies in a series of zero-gravity shots. The actress evokes the lightness of the collection and highlights the modernity of these silhouettes designed to offer great freedom of movement. "It feels impulsive and sporadic and honest and colourful and vivid", she says. “We really do need to feel light and these clothes make that feel possible.”

CHANEL Eyewear SS20

02_SS_2020_eyewear_ad_campaign_pictures_by_Karim_Sadli_2_LD.jpg

The singer Angèle, the actresses Isabelle Adjani and Margaret Qualley, and the musicians Sébastien Tellier and Pharrell Williams: the aura of these five artists lights up the CHANEL Spring-Summer 2020 eyewear campaign, photographed by Karim Sadli. Five eyewear designs for one single attitude: the elegance of CHANEL, for asserting one's own style with pride.

Each pair of sunglasses highlights the originality of these inspiring muses. For Angèle, an oval design whose transparent acetate frame contrasts with the metal temples to which a necklace of grey faux pearls is attached. The mischievous face of Margaret Qualley appears beneath a butterfly frame in black metal, also linked with a string of pearls, this time in white. We can only guess at the enigmatic gaze of Isabelle Adjani behind large square sunglasses in black acetate with the name CHANEL laid like a jewelled hair slide along one of the temples. The XL rectangular shield worn by Sébastien Tellier honours the tweed that swathes its frame. The double C takes shape as a patch and signs the temples. Finally, an oversized rectangular design in black acetate worn by the CHANEL ambassador Pharrell Williams, is embellished with fine metal plaques engraved with a motif that evokes a woven tweed.

A veritable manifesto of daring and self-expression, this powerful campaign, full of character, embodied by five leading figures in the art world, can be discovered from the month of March 2020.

Impulses / CAMPER FW19 Campaign

The line between humans and machines is blurrier than ever in the technologically tuned-up universe of our Fall/Winter 2019 campaign.

Inspired by the fearless innovation and precision performance of motor sports, Romain Kremer presents a post-modern world fueled by impulses – where how you drive determines your future and respect is earned one race at a time. Featuring eight high-octane avatars, the campaign brings racing subculture to life, blending fierce colors and aerodynamic details in a custom-built collection that craves speed and accelerates out of the curves.

// DAWN TILL DUSK //

Shot by Belgian photographer Quentin de Briey, the campaign features a series of intimate and unmediated analogue portraits with a distinct grainy, caught-in-the moment atmosphere.

Capturing a certain, undefined moment in time and place, the series celebrates the duality between nature and man-made landscapes. Up-close and personal, KOMONO evokes raw sensibility for its Summer 2019 collection and highlights this season’s essentials in eyewear and watches.

The sub collections are all based on a momentum of the day. Luminous represents the reflection of the sunset on the sea, while Stardust is based on the night sky in a unique way.

Riccardo Tisci revealed his debut ad campaign for Burberry. The campaign presents the British house's SS19 collection, which celebrates the melting pot of creativity and style traditions the city of London is.

 To bring his vision for Burberry to life, Tisci assembled a multigenerational cast of photographers and models, saying: "The thing that excites me the most about Burberry is how inclusive it is - it appeals to everyone no matter their age, their social standing, their race, their gender.”

 The campaign was shot by photographers Nick Knight, Danko Steiner, Hugo Comte, Colin Dodgson, Peter Langer and Letty Schmiterlow, all of whom make their Burberry campaign debut. Creating a collection of contrasting imagery, the six creatives portray Tisci's diverse and inclusive vision, whilst translating the new cues and codes for Burberry in their own inimitable style.

// DUNHILL / FW18 ADV //

‘The idea of the dunhill man is multiple, not singular. And in turn, so is the idea of Britishness – something crucial to dunhill and the way we approach style here’ says Mark Weston, Creative Director of dunhill London. ‘There is not a single way of being British, there are many; there is classicism and tradition as well as an idea of the contemporary and shifting. In many ways, the campaign is about literally showing these different perspectives at once.’

In the Autumn-Winter 2018 campaign, the reflection becomes the visual metaphor for a multifaceted approach at dunhill; towards luxury fashion, masculinity and what defines a British house respectful of tradition yet finding a new voice in contemporary culture right now.

Focusing on the model Clement Chabernaud – a purposefully familiar face from the menswear world and a favourite from the dunhill show – the photographer, Jack Webb, captures him in the shifting, reflected settings of London. Shot in the streets and through the glass fronted buildings of Mayfair, the timeless terrain surrounding Alfred Dunhill’s Bourdon House is explored via ‘stylised reportage’; a reflected world of half fact, half fiction.

Here, Chabernaud wears the mix of the traditional cut through with the casual, found in dunhill London’s Autumn-Winter collection. Sinuous tailoring and layered outerwear, in the form of traditional cashmere coats, still maintain a feel of ease when mixed with dunhill’s peerless masculine leather goods, encompassing shoes, bags and even trousers. The extravagant is made everyday and vice versa, while ‘executive style’ is both celebrated and subverted. Altogether, the codes of dunhill London are reflected and reconfigured for a new chapter at this storied British house.
